You can collect every single Star Coin in the game with the items provided by the level it's in. Note: Movies become available when you beat levels and use Warp Cannons. You'll need all 231 coins to unlock every movie. Additionally, these coins can be spent on hint movies in Princess Toadstool's Castle in World 1. See our Secrets section for more on World 9. If you find all the coins in a world you'll unlock a special level in World 9. Of course, we offer the locations of each and every coin and just how to get them in our Walkthrough! For instance, if you have the first and third coins, you know that the second coin (or a door or tube leading to it) is located somewhere between the locations of those two. This display is key to finding the coins, since the three slots actually correspond to the locations of the coins, from left to right in the level. When you collect a coin, it shows up in one of the coin slots at the top left of the screen. Any shell, ice cube or enemy you throw can be used to collect a Star Coin. The pink baby yoshis enable you to select your item, and the blue baby yoshis tell you how many you've won of that item.To collect a Star Coin, you don't need to touch it yourself. If you get a bowser on the gold baby yoshis, you win nothing. If you hit a Bowser, the game is over and you only keep items you have already hit.Īnother type of red Mushroom House, these houses contain a baby Yoshi retrieving game which you can use to win items, which also go into your inventory. The red Mushroom Houses contain a card-swapping game. If you get equal or more Bowser chips, this doesn`t count against you but you get no 1UPs. However many more green 1UP chips you get over black Bowser chips give each player that many lives. The cannons spray out coins, 1UP chips and Bowser chips. These green Mushroom Houses feature a minigame with a cannon.
